Taking a Trip Down Memory Lane

by | Dec 5, 2022

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again … I love to teach.

Seeing so many students grow from inexperienced newbies to full-fledged market crushers is the most inspiring thing in the world to me.

Take a look at my top student, Jenny Smith, for example…

Two years ago, she knew literally nothing about trading stocks or options.

Then, she discovered Tim Sykes. And through Sykes, she found Evolved Trader…

Now, her options-trading profits support her entire family. (If you wanna see exactly how Jenny did it, click right here.)

Watching Jenny grow into such a fantastic trader, I can’t help but think about my early days as a Tim Sykes student…

How I went from being a miserable accountant, stuck in a cubicle all day, to a multi-millionaire trader, living out his wildest dreams…

That said, my road to trading success wasn’t easy. It was long and challenging. It took me over ten years to make my first million. (A lot of people have never stuck to anything for ten years!)

As most of you are early in your trading journeys, I’m sure you’re experiencing many of the same growing pains that I did when I first entered the markets.

With that in mind, I’d like to take this opportunity to review a few ways I’ve personally evolved over the years.

Keep reading to take a trip down memory lane with me…

From Miserable Accountant to Multi-Millionaire Trader

I’m gonna let you all in on a little secret…

Roughly 10 years ago, I was working as a general accountant. I was always good with numbers and conservative about saving my money.

But like many Americans, I hated my job. I longed for something more exciting.

I’ve always had a fascination with day trading. But initially, I didn’t have the confidence to take the plunge.

Then, one fateful day, I clicked on a link for a Tim Sykes webinar … I had no idea my entire life was about to change.

I loved it. I immediately connected with Tim’s approach to the markets.

But let me be clear about something … When I first started studying with Tim, I had no idea what I was doing.

I had all the obvious signs of a newbie trader — loose strategy, shaky pattern recognition, and almost NO DISCIPLINE.

But hey, we all have to start somewhere, right?!

Little did I know, the real work was just beginning. I dove headfirst into the Trading Challenge. To say I was hooked would be an understatement…

I watched all of Tim’s video lessons and webinars three times each. And I organized them by category. Doing that helped me internalize every key chart pattern.

The Perfect Pattern for Beginners

Tim Sykes has just released a brand-new webinar…

And if you’re just getting started, you’re going to love it.

My technical skills improved even more when Tim helped to create StocksToTrade, my favorite trading platform.

Wanna know why I like it so much? See for yourself — get a 14-day trial of StocksToTrade right here.

After that, my results went on a massive upswing. This wasn’t a coincidence — my hard work was finally paying off.

Three key areas have been critical to my development. Here’s why I think I’m the trader I am today…

The 3 Improvements That Made Me Millions

To me, nothing’s more rewarding than seeing noticeable improvements in my (and my students’) trading. I live for this progress.

Even when a play doesn’t go perfectly — if my execution marks an improvement over my last trade — I view that as a win.

In fact, I named this service ‘Evolved Trader’ to highlight the importance of sharpening and improving your strategy.

But how SPECIFICALLY have I grown and evolved?

What areas of improvement have made the biggest difference in my trading career? (This could help you, too.)

Confidence

As a newbie trader, I’d hesitate and second-guess my trade ideas.

But these days, if the chart pattern is perfect for me — I try to pull the trigger fearlessly.

Note: I still miss entries and exits sometimes. You can never expect to trade perfectly.

Patience

Sometimes I had a good idea for a trade, but it wasn’t the perfect time to enter.

These days, I strive for zen-like patience with my setups and picking the best time to strike.

Note: As an options trader, timing is everything. Being too early (or late) is the same as being wrong.

Discipline

When I first started trading, I was less picky with my setups and got into trades I should’ve avoided.

Don’t be like young me. Instead, wait for ideal setups and perfect chart patterns.

Note: Avoiding FOMO is a skill you must master.

Final Thoughts

My trading journey has been a long, hard road. But I wouldn’t trade my time in the markets for anything

Now, it’s fun to look back on my hard work and all I’ve accomplished.

Remember, it took me years and years before I had true confidence in my trading abilities. And even then, it was several years more before I made my first million.

If you’re an Evolver, I think you’re already way ahead of many others (with little to no guidance or framework).

But you still have to find a unique strategy that works for you…

Everyone has to start somewhere. The key is how you evolve

Confidence, patience, and discipline — focus on these three trading virtues and you’ll be taking your first steps toward success.

It won’t be easy. But if you stick with it, you might be amazed at where it can take you.
